Thud-Thud. The hare straightened its back, an inquisitive nose pointed towards the sky as it tested the air for danger. Thud-Thud. A soft breeze whistled through the long grass and carried the fresh scent of a male feline. A predator. Too fresh and too strong for comfort. Thud-Thud. The leveret twitched and turned it head to meet a pair of deep, gleaming eyes focused on its every action, and without a seconds more hesitation, kicked hard off the ground and shot through the undergrowth. The huge brown tom snarled and pounced after it, determined not to let another meal slip past his claws. The Maine Coon had been hunting all morning, as he did every day just to feed himself and his brother, but every attempt had ended in failure so far. It seemed today was not his day especially, as even tracking the sounds of mice through the undergrowth became a chore when he had to ignore the loud drum of his heart against his chest. He wasn't unused to it, the ex-kittypet had lived most of his life feeling the extra nip of pain in his heart that he had been told wasn't normal. As a kit he had kept bringing up how hard it was to sleep when his heart beat was so loud, or how after play-fighting with his brother he couldn't breath and even had to lie down for a bit. After a while, it had begun to worry his mother and twin, as they obviously didn't suffer from the symptoms themselves, and the day the furry tom had realised that, he had shut up about them. If he was going to keep feeling these pains, then he could suffer them in silence and not bother with stressing his brother about them. He hardly wanted to be be treated like he couldn't look after himself. Even now as he ran after his prey, he could hear his heart stamping viciously in his chest, but ignored it. He only had eyes for the leveret. Hunter could see the hare's white tail bobbing a whisker length ahead as he tailed it, each paw pushing off the ground to edge him that bit closer. He paid no heed to the border he was crossing as he chased after the panicking prey, its actions growing frantic as it was unable to lose its follower. Yet it seemed that the rabbit wouldn't need to serpentine to lose this particular tom, as slowly his chest began to ache with each jolt against the ground and his breath became short despite his lungs burning for air. I am not losing this kill now! Hunter growled, trying with all his might to close the distance between him and the hare, which only stretched out with each passing second.

» { Sweetpaw } «
A small built, silver tri-colored she-cat was shifting from her slumber, her cheekbone was resting comfortably on her right paw as her long, bushy tail flickered aimlessly from inside her mossy bedding. It was the sound of voices from outside the Apprentice's Den that had forced the young Abyssinian mix to fully awaken. The she-cat let out a small moan as her bones felt stiffened and hard, 'Mrph. Must of... Slept on them wrong' She had told herself mentally, forcing her front paws to push her entire body up from it's sleeping position. Giving her head a quick shake, Sweetpaw opened her maw slightly to suppress a little yawn from her pharynx, 'Ehh, why am I still so tired? I'm positive I went to sleep earlier then usual. Mph' She had wondered curiously, it had seemed after becoming an apprentice Sweetpaw lacked more and more sleep. She wasn't having any nightmares or struggled to sleep per-say, which was unusual in her own opinion, but because of her timid nature, the small she-cat never went to see Brambleleaf about it; RaggedClan's Medicine cat. Suppressing an uneasy sigh, the RaggedClan apprentice's light blue orbs glanced around the half empty den. Some of the apprentices were still sleeping, others, Sweetpaw assumed, were either outside in camp or out training with their mentors. Glancing down at her small paws, the she-cat had felt a sudden stab of disappointment, uncertainty and shame all at once. She had always kept to herself as a kitten, only ever speaking with Tinycloud; her now deceased mother and because of it, Sweetpaw became the timid and cautious feline she was now today.
'Maybe going out for a walk will help me awaken more and perhaps help relax my bones and muscles, besides I doubt any one would notice... No one ever notices. Which is good... I think' She noted to herself, glancing around the den once more before standing up on all four paws and walking slowly and carefully out of the Apprentice's Den. Once outside the den, Sweetpaw was only welcomed by the sudden burst of the bitter leaf-bare winds and freezing snow-covered grounds of camp. The cold winds and ground nipped harshly against Sweetpaw's face and paw pads, causing a shiver to run throughout her lightly built body. Luckily, Sweet paw's fur coat was thick enough to repel most of the cold and keep enough body heat from escaping and protect her from getting a cold. It was this that made Sweet paw re-think about going for a morning walk. What if she got lost and couldn't find her way back? She'd die! Freeze to death! Thinking too much of the possibilities, the silver Birman mix's breathing began to speed up with each passing second. Gritting her teeth together, Sweetpaw's head shook as her eyes stared at the ground wide-eyed 'Calm down, calm down. If I'm very careful, I... I won't get lost, y-yeah' She tried to reassure herself by attempting to think positively "Besides, you'd rather get lost t-then speaking with a clan-mate or getting confronted by one, r-right? Yeah... Yeah" Sweetpaw had spoken out this time, loudly enough for most of her fellow clan-mates to hear. Freezing on the spot, the young apprentice's light blue eyes blinked very slowly as some, not all, luckily, were giving her a look as if she was crazy. Pinning her ears against her cranium, Sweetpaw's eyes shot down to the ground, her cheeks turning a rosy red as they burned with embarrassment. Without saying another word or daring to look up, the timid feline immediately ran straight towards the camp exit.
Even once she was out of the camp, she never stopped running and continued down the path that lend into RaggedClan's territory. The small female didn't even bother to look out for any possible signs of dangers, it was only until she entered the forest when Sweetpaw decided to slow down that she realized how far she actually went, sitting down on her haunches and taking in heavy breaths of the wintry air, she slowly but surely caught her breath. Closing her eyes, Sweetpaw's head hung low as she gritted her teeth tightly together 'Dear StarClan that was embarrassing!' She thought to herself angrily, holding back tears. Why wasn't she being careful? She could of prevented this happening! 'I can't go back... N-no. But, if I didn't, mother would be so disappointed in me' At this moment, Sweetpaw's feelings were becoming conflicted; shame, embarrassment, angry and worry all bubbled inside her. Opening her eyes slightly, Sweetpaw ignored the cold nipping of her paw pads as a dozen thoughts came flooding through her mind. Though, something wiped the thoughts clear from her mind. Something didn't feel right. Her ears had perked up in alert at the sound of thumping paw steps getting closer and closer by each passing minute. Feeling her thick fur bristle in worry and caution, Sweetpaw had quickly stood up on all paws, her back arched, her eyes widened in fear as it kept coming closer; too close for her to make a run for it. 'Stop worrying! It might be nothing... Maybe... M-maybe just my mind playing tricks on me, y-yeah... That's it' She tried to assure herself, which was failing horribly.
OCC : Aaaah. I'm sorry for the fail post, Clover </3.

The hare was now getting further and further away from the large tom, its endless energy easily out lasting the dwindling supply of its predator. Its small form was dipping and jumping with each obstacle of the forest, all four paws rapidly kicking against the ground as it didn't miss a beat, while the tom could only crash after it, ignoring any thorns which ripped at his paws in an attempt to slow him down. Even Hunter knew he should stop, give up on a lost cause, let the hare go and catch his breath but his stubbornness kept his paws working furiously after it, its tail bobbing tauntingly in front of him. He couldn't even decipher the drumming of his heart from the pounding on his paws on the forest floor, his amber eyed focused on nothing more then his prey. The loner wasn't going to let his weakness get in the way of another opportunity. He wasn't going to let it control him or force him to stop. Other cats didn't feel tired after such a short sprint. They didn't feel their heart beats jolt through their entire body with each pump of blood. If other felines could do out run a hare then so would he. He had to be equal or better to those around him. He just had to be.
The chocolatey brown tom could still remember his kittypet days. The short tempered tom always got into fights. Even now he could clearly here their taunts, their insults and laughter. At first they didn't bother the Maine Coon twins because they were large, intimidating toms. However after a while they got cocky, and after a couple fights, they began to notice that Hunter quickly grew tired despite his strength and speed. And so, they would use it to their advantage until his symptoms got the better of him and his brother would force him to retreat. He loathed those street cats and purely hated every time it happened and not just because of the mocking jeers that would follow them home afterwards, but because, every time he would see a look on his brother's face that just made his stomach churn and his heart break. Hayden's face would hold a mix of worry and love as always, but whether intentionally or not, the slightest shine disappointment would mask his features as he led his wounded brother away. A crestfallen look that Hunter had earned because he had failed at being an invincible tom. A look that showed Hayden knew his brother wasn't a perfect cat or the idol he admired him as, that he was flawed and still learning like every other feline. And while the larger Maine Coon twin knew he wasn't perfect, knowing that his brother had realised this too had been quite the stab at Hunter's pride.
So as the leveret dived through a cover of bushes, the tired tom didn't hesitate to smash his way after it, not paying any heed to the sharp pain in his chest or the burning urge to stop and just breath. A dizzying light headedness was beginning to creep up on the tom however, and for a moment he closed his eyes, in an attempt to blink it off. However as he opened his amber eyes on the other side of the shrubbery, something much larger than a hare with wide blue eyes stared at him, standing right in his path. At times like this, the large furry tom wished that time would freeze, giving him time to think, to evaluation the situation and imagine a painless solution. However, it did not. Instead the large Maine Coon shot his front paws out in front of him in reflex, his front claws digging into the ground in all efforts to come to a stop before the sudden creature. He fell into a crouch, almost falling over himself in an attempt to not crash into the obstacle before him. Just fortunately, he did not flatten the creature in front of him, though his nose came only a whisker length away from the small wide eyed cat, forcing him to back up so that he could pant heavily without breathing her into his jaws.
[OCC: Psh that was amazing! Sorry I couldn't match its length haha xD]
