Another day, another long time where all the other apprentices were out and Sharpshadow was busy elsewhere. Howlpaw was bored, yet again, slowly batting a small rock between his two paws just to keep himself mildly amused. If only Sharpshadow had told him to go do something before she left. Then he'd be busy, maybe taking care of kits or listening to stories from the elders. Instead, he sat there like a slug, playing the most boring and childish of games to entertain himself. He heaved a sigh, looking around the cavern to see who else might be there as well.

Iceberry trotted up into camp cheerily with two mice in her mouth. She had been lucky that morning, the prey had practically leapt into her paws. Smiling, she swung by the fresh-kill pile and left the prey there, taking only a small shrew for herself. Looking around camp she noticed a spot under a cliff where there was little of the hard frosted snow that covered some of the ground. Prancing over to the spot, she dropped her shrew and fell back onto her haunches.
After washing her small, cold paws the warrior settled down daintily. Blinking a couple times, she held down the small animal and took a small delicate bite from it's flank. The meat was fresh, warm, and delicious. Smiling, the she-cat looked up at the heavily clouded sky. It was dark and gray, looking as if it might dump snow upon them at any minute. But Iceberry didn't mind, in fact, she hardly ever minded about anything.

Howlpaw had seen Iceberry come in and watched her out of sheer boredom before deciding to play a small trick on her. Nothing big, just to scare her a little bit and make her laugh. He stood up and stretched, before falling into his hunter's crouch and creeping toward her, keeping to the shadows. He honestly didn't know the warrior all that well, other than what others had said about her. It was generally known she was a nice cat, kind to all, but he had never personally spoke to her or really hung out with her. Still, she at least wouldn't be mad at him for pranking her. Once he finally crept close enough, Howlpaw leapt out at her, giving a howl to frighten her.

Iceberry turned in surprise at rustling only to flatten her ears as a small black apprentice hurled himself forwards. Shaking her head and letting out a small trill the she-cat was amused at the apprentice's antics. She knew him, he was Howlpaw, she had been on patrol with him before.
"Oh hello there, did you mistake me for a mouse?"
Purring, the young warrior twitched her whiskers daintily and pushed a little snow away from her meal. She wasn't angry with the young tom at all. Leaning down towards her shrew, she took another small bite of it. The warm meat felt good in her empty belly.

Grinning, Howlpaw shook some snow off of his pelt, careful to not get any on her or her meal. "Nah, I was just bored...." he said, sitting down again. "Everyone else is off doing something, and I don't have anything to do. How are you, Iceberry?" He figured he might as well make conversation with the kind she-cat. It would stave away boredom, and it was always good to make friends with the warriors of the camp.
