{I'm not sure about the posting order of this guys, Zaabu organized this so I'll let them handle it. This is an RP between Singewhisker, Windchill and their apprentices if I'm correct }
The she-cat paced back and forth just outside the entrance to the RaggedClan camp, her whiskers twitching nervously. Today she was going to do some apprentice training with Windchill and her apprentice. Singewhisker had Mudpaw, her own apprentice for this task. She was anxious to beat Windchill at this, she was always itching to prove herself better than that mangy old mouse-brain. She let out a small purr, just imagining Mudpaw showing off and outdoing Windchill's apprentice, hopefully the things she had been working on with Mudpaw would come to use.
She didn't know Windchill's apprentice, or their name for that matter. Singewhisker wondered who it might be. Images of all the other apprentices started to flash through the she-cats mind as she tried to figure out which one would be best suited to the cold hearted warrior. She didn't have any idea, it looked as if she was just going to have to wait and see, the main objective now for the chocolate coloured cat was to prove herself better than Windchill and nothing more.
Singewhisker pondered a little. She wondered if the sisterhood between Windchill and Mudpaw would change anything, would Windchill be proud of Singewhiskers teachings or disappointed? Her paws needed on the ground impatiently as she went to go look for the other three cats. She had completely forgotten where they were all supposed to meet up. The she-cat cursed under her breath as her amber eyes darted around, trying to spot any of the familiar looking cats. Why did she have to forget something so important?

The sky overhead was dotted with large clouds, blocking out the sun for the most part. It was an overcast day, to be sure, and the wind had picked up across the territory, sending flurries of ice and snow into the air. In Windchill's opinion, it was the perfect time for a training session. She and Singewhisker had decided to take their apprentices out the previous night, and now, Windchill was crouched by the fresh-kill pile, finishing off a sparrow. She'd been out hunting earlier that morning, so Windchill didn't feel bad about eating now. Swallowing the last bit of her prey and brushing a few feathers from her chest, the she-cat straightened up and stretched, claws unsheathing and digging into the ground as she flexed her strong muscles. Then she stood up, shaking out her thick pelt.
Windchill gave her chest a few brisk licks before looking around, opening her mouth to scent the air. It seemed as though Singewhisker had already left camp, probably to wait by Broken Birch. She was terribly impatient, but Windchill was the same way, so it didn't bother her. Mudpaw and Slatepaw, however, still seemed to be in the apprentices den. Windchill found that a little odd, as most cats were awake by now. Shrugging, she stalked over to the apprentices cave, and stuck her head inside, sighing at the sight that greeted her.
Most of the RaggedClan apprentices were still sleeping soundly in their nests, including her own and her younger sister. 'Lazy kits,' she thought, rolling her eyes. Grinning mischeviously, Windchill sucked in a breath. "UP AND AT 'EM, LAZY BONES! she yowled, startling quite a few of the younger cats out of their nests. "Slatepaw, Mudpaw! I expect to see you two at Broken Birch YESTERDAY!" Windchill backed out of the cave, and smiled to herself, trotting out of camp. That would probably get them going.
Blinking away the brightness and adjusting to the light, Windchill padded over to where her dark-pelted friend was waiting, looking grumpy as per usual. "Got another mouse-bone stuck in your nest Singewhisker?" Windchill meowed playfully, sarcasm evident in her tone as she continued, "You look absolutely giddy today."

The voice continued, and Slatepaw flicked his ear backwards and opened his eyes slightly when he heard his name being called, he then-- Wait, did she just say yesterday? YESTERDAY??? Slatepaw sprang to his paws in panic. His eyes wide, scanning the apprentices den like a frightened piece of prey.
The slate-colored tom made a dash for the exit of the apprentices cave and made a dead-stop in the middle of the camp, looking around in panic and confusion, his head still fuzzy and dazed from sleep. All his clan mates still seemed to be going about their regular routines, Slatepaw paused and narrowed his eyes slightly, allowing himself to relax a little and letting the fur on the back of his neck return to a more comfortable angle.
Slatepaw sniffed the air a bit for the scent of his mentor and padded over to the scraps of feathers left behind from a freshly eaten sparrow. He lifted his head just in time to see Windchill's tail disappear from view as she left the camp.
A slight smirk made its way onto Slatepaw's face as he realized what had just happened, and boy did he fall for it! Oh boy did he want to get her back for that one. Slatepaw's stomach growled in protest at the idea, however he had already dropped into a hunting crouch and was sneaking towards the camp exit, quick on his paws, glancing sideways at the alternate and more dangerous route down from the clan camp, he didn't think twice before making a break for it. He was gonna get to Broken Birch before Windchill if it was the last thing he did!

The young she-cat was sleeping soundly, having the most wonderful dream of hunting a rabbit when she heard a familiar yell. Her eyes opened groggily, knowing that it was her sister's voice, and her yellow green eyes watched Slatepaw amused. A small smile appeared on her face as he dashed out of the den, and Mudpaw on the other hand took her own leisurely time. She stood up, stretching her tired muscles, and stretching out her paws. Once awake enough she padded out of the apprentice den.
Her stomach rumbled a slight bit, yet the she-cat did not feel at all famished. So, instead of going to eat she decided to instead head to Broken Birch, as she wouldn't want to keep her mentor waiting and disappoint her. Mudpaw also didn't want to appear lazy in front of her sister, Windchill. It was at most importance that she appear her best in front of the two, especially in front of Windchill's own apprentice. She had the deep desire to be better than Windchill's apprentice, all to impress her mentor and sister.
She had then seen Slatepaw take a different way out to Broken Birch. She simply just let her eyes roll at how he was going to try and use that route to beat her sister. She'd rather be the last one there then take that route and be a mouse-brain. Or would she?
She considered following Slatepaw for just a heartbeat, but decided that she would just beat Slatepaw in the normal direction that every other cat in the clan takes. Mudpaw then quickly picked up her pace, determined to at least not be close to being the last one, and even if she was the last one she would prove herself again and again just to make up for being the last one to Broken Birch.

Singewhisker sat and huffed, her anger starting to rise and her blood starting to boil. She was tired of this unnecessary waiting, they should have been here ages ago, they could be out training right now however instead, the warrior was sitting here and doing nothing, nothing productive what so ever. This was a was of valuable time, and the worst part was that the she-cat couldn't do a thing about it.
She soon spotted Windchill making her way over towards the broken tree, and Singewhisker couldn't be more relieved. Any more waiting and she would have sworn that she would start picking out each hair on her body one by one. She frowned at Windchill's sarcastic comment. The brown cat couldn't expect better from that mangy hair ball. "Any more smart remarks like that and you'll have a mouse bone in your face." She let out a soft purr of amusement as she sprung to her feet, a mischievous look plastered on her face. "Then they'll probably have to change your name to Boneface. Haha, it would be hilarious." She settled herself back down, pulling her excitement under control as she gave her chest a few quick licks. It was hard to keep clean when you had so much fur, Windchill didn't know just how lucky she was.
"So where are the apprentices? Did you come here alone just to smite me mouse-brain?" Singewhisker asked with a small smirk on her face, once she was done with her grooming. She would have thought that Windchill would have brought the apprentices along but they were no where to be seen. Was she trying to get on the aggressive she-cat's nerves? The warrior stood back up and then stretched, flexing her claws with a small yawn. "I hope you've been training your apprentice well. What was it? Slatepaw or something?" She gave her paw a few quick licks, running it over her ears. "Me and Mudpaw don't mess around, you'll be lucky to keep up with us." She said in a challenging tone. There was noting better than out-doing Windchill of course, she was going to have fun with all of this.
Singewhisker kept her eyes peeled and her senses awake as she looked around for the other two cats. What was Windchill playing at? Did she like to keep the she-cat waiting? Either way, soon they would be out and they would be testing their apprentices skills, and Singewhisker was counting on Mudpaw to make an impression.

Reaching her friend's side, Windchill let out a chuckle as she sat down, quirking a brow at Singewhisker. "Great StarClan, you must be tired," she purred, whiskers twitching in amusement. "That, or you just really want to get going. I'd expect more from a Singewhisker joke. Boneface? Really?" Windchill's body shook slightly as she laughed to herself, shaking with mirth. She wasn't worried about actually upsetting Singewhisker; they'd been friends for far too long and been through too much together to get riled up over a little quip. Calming down, Windchill shifted her weight, unsheathing and sheathing her claws in anticipation. She was more than ready to get going; if only those two kits would hurry up!
"So where are the apprentices? Did you come here alone just to smite me mouse-brain?"
For your information," Windchill meowed dryly, lifting a paw to her muzzle and giving it few licks, "Our apprentices were both sleeping like boulders in the apprentices den. I practically had to shove those two lazy furballs out of bed." Windchill placed her paw back on the ground and glanced at Singewhisker, smirking. "And before you get over confident, Slatepaw and I have what you might call an understanding. So you and Mudpaw had better watch out today!"
Windchill got to her paws, eager to be off. Neither of their apprentices had shown up yet, so figuring they'd better make use of the time, Windchill turned to her friend. "So, I'm assuming you and Mudpaw have gone over hunting techniques, yeah? Slatepaw and I have practiced most of the basic hunting poses, so I was thinking we could head down to Dune Hollow to work on their fighting skills today."
Slatepaw and Mudpaw had been nursery mates, and had been made apprentices on the same day, nearly 3 moons ago. Since then, Windchill had focused on perfecting Slatepaw's hunting skills and exploring the territory. She'd taught him a few fighting techniques, but it was high time they sat down and really got to work on making him a warrior. She could only assume that Singewhisker had done the same. They'd taken the two cats out training together before; they were ready for some battle practice, and the soft sands of Dune Hollow was the perfect spot. Even in Leaf-Bare, it provided a safe and sheltered place for apprentices to train. still, to get to training, Slatepaw and Mudpaw actually had to be here. "Great StarClan, they're like snails today!"

In all reality, Slatepaw had tripped over something on his way down to the broken birch since he took that alternate route, and by the time he showed up Windchill had already made it there before him, he was stuck for an idea as to how to one-up his mentor from that previous event when just as luck would have it, his ears were graced with the lovely sound of a chittering mouse. Obviously he wasn't going to let that one get away too easy, and figured it was a perfect excuse for his tardy and a nice way to impress his clan mates as well.
Thanks to the skills Windchill had taught him previously, the rodent didn't stand a chance.
“I think fighting sounds like a fantastic idea,” Slatepaw said in response to the previous conversation that he had overheard while bringing his catch to the two warriors. “Since I've already proven myself superior in the hunting category there's obviously only one other way to show you how great of a warrior I'll grow up to be.” Slatepaw puffed out his chest a little bit and waited for a response from his mentor and her friend.

OOC: you know actually as soon as I finished writing this I checked the map thing, and I'm pretty sure I got the wrong head-cannon of where the broken birch is located xDD on the map it looks like its right outside of their camp exit, I thought it was like somewhere down the mountain a bit, if the map is true then my post is completely irrelevant/impossible whoops?

The young she-cat had now seen that she was the last one there, and could feel her muzzle twitch with an unsatisfactory feeling that she was beaten by even Slatepaw. Yet at the words of fighting instead of hunting caused a small smirk to be placed against her face. She was better at fighting than hunting, as she wasn't the fastest cat.
Mudpaw snorted at Slatepaw saying how he was going to prove himself in another category. She simply walked into the scene and looked over at Slatepaw. "I sincerely doubt you will be a great warrior Slatepaw, especially since you will not get anywhere close to beating me. Not even a kitten-step close t beating me."
Her ears flickered, observing Slatepaw. He was certainly a bit taller than she was, and noticed his build was lanky. Yet she wouldn't let her guard down to his appearance, and would still try and prove him that she was the better fighter out of the two, and impress her mentor. Mudpaw knew she needed to impress her mentor since her hunting skills weren't quiet the best compared to most apprentices her age.
She then let her gaze go over to Singewhisker. "Sorry for being late Singewhisker." She almost continued on to come up with an excuse, but decided against it as all she could say would be she overslept and Windchill had to yell for her to even wake up. Mudpaw knew it was the same for Slatepaw, but since he was there before her she couldn't add on anything against him.

Singewhisker rolled her eyes at Windchill. "I suppose it is a little to early for me to come up with any witty remarks. Wait until I wake up a little, then I'll insult you to your heart's content." She huffed, noticing that the apprentices were finally arriving, only Slatepaw at first. The she-cat frowned a little, Mudpaw was already showing her up. "An understanding? You'll need a little more than that I'm afraid. You can't expect an apprentice of mine to be lacking when it comes to battle." She let out a soft murrow of amusement, having faith in her apprentice, even though they might not be as close as Windchill and Slatepaw were.
The warrior raised an eyebrow at Statepaw as he made his entrance. Ladies?. She was going to make a comment on that but then she decided to keep her muzzle shut. She didn't seem to impressed with Slatepaw, a little to full of himself for her taste but she did admire the fact that he had a good sense of pride. "A warrior cannot excel in everything. Being good at hunting is a great skill, however knowing your limits is also a great skill." She gave her chest a few more licks, only rising her head back up to notice that Mudpaw was finally arriving. Of all the cats that had to be keeping them waiting, it had to be Mudpaw that arrived last. Singewhisker wasn't impressed.
The chocolate coloured she-cat made a low growl at her apprentice. "Where were you? You know I don't like to be kept waiting. She flicked her tail over onto Mudpaw's shoulder. I sincerely doubt you will be a great warrior Slatepaw. Singewhisker narrowed her eyes at the comment made by her apprentice. She wasn't happy with it at all. Boasting about one's skills was one thing, but telling another cat that they were not going to be a good warrior was low even for Singewhisker. "All of you apprentices are going to grow into great warriors. I will hear no further comments like that one Mudpaw. Try to wake up a little earlier. The more time we have, the more training we can do."
She rose to her feet and then flicked her tail, deliberately getting it in Windchill's face. "Well are we going to go yet or not? We're still wasting time, we can yowl about how amazing we are on our way there." She quickly started to trot down the trail that led away from the RaggedClan camp, not even looking back to see if the other three cat's were following her. She was anxious to see how well Mudpaw would do in this training session. She was itching to teach her apprentice how to battle, how to crush your enemy in battle. It was Singewhisker's strong point after all, she loved a good fight.

"An understanding? ..You can't expect an apprentice of mine to be lacking when it comes to battle."
|
Windchill winked at Singewhisker as Slatepaw's scent drifted in on the breeze. "Just wait and see." “Sorry to keep you waiting, ladies.”Slatepaw padded over to them, a mouse hanging from his jaws and a snarky comment following his arrival. Windchill shut her eyes, and sighed. Normally, his words would have made her laugh, but in the presence of other cats that he was not as close to, Windchill expected him to show a little restraint. She lifted her paw, and with sheathed claws, cuffed her young apprentice over the ear. "Mind your manners, mousebrain," she meowed sternly. "Now take that mouse to the fresh-kill pile so we can be off." When he returned, Windchill smiled lightly at his words. "Don't let your confidence go to you head, Slatepaw." She nodded in agreement with Singewhisker's words as well, before turning her head to see Mudpaw approaching. "I sincerely doubt you will be a great warrior Slatepaw…"Windchill frowned at her sister's words, but she let Singewhisker reprimand the young she-cat. It was not her place to get between a mentor and her apprentice, even if the apprentice in question was family. Windchill merely stood up, shaking out her pelt, preparing to leave. "Singewhisker's right. Next time, we expect you both to be on time. Now, let's get going before the Elder's den calls for me." Sliding into place behind Singewhisker, Windchill turned to look at the territory below as the 4 cats made their way down the mountain path in single file. The rocky ledge too narrow for more than one cat at a time, so it was slow going. Eventually, the group made it into the foothills, and Windchill took up the lead, padding through the snow-coated forests towards the beach, and Dune Hollow. It took a while, but eventually, the snow beneath their paws disappeared, replaced by cold sand. Windchill halted at the top of the small hill that led into Dune Hollow. It was RaggedClan's battle training grounds; every apprentice practiced here, honing their skills in preparation for their warrior life. "So, let's get started, shall we?" Windchill meowed over her shoulder, already padding down into natural dip of land. She sat down on the sidelines, waiting for Singewhisker and the apprentices before speaking up again. "To start off, I think an assessment of your battle skills is in order." she meowed, eyes bright. "Singewhisker and I need to see what you two know, and then we can split off and train separately so that we can cater to your individual needs. Before we go back to camp, you two can fight it out one more time, to see if the day's training was of any use." Windchill got to her feet, and flicked her tail. "So, Slatepaw, Mudpaw, go into the middle and face-off. When you're ready, begin."[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"]

ooc/ It's all good Purrl |D We'll just say that Slate took a really short hunting trip on the slopes beforehand to impress the others. Slatepaw did as he was told and quickly dropped off the mouse at the freshkill pile back in camp. He promptly returned, and the warriors then departed to actually get some training done. Picking his way down the narrow slope carefully, he followed behind Windchill. Once they were down the hardest part and Winchill advanced to take the lead of the group, Slatepaw fell back a little and took the opportunity to speak with Mudpaw for a little bit before their official training session began. “Hey, Mudpaw.” Slatepaw said, allowing himself to fall into her pawsteps so they were walking side-by-side. “I just want to say that however this fighting thing goes today, I'm not gonna have hard feelings about it after its over." He said, "Not that I'm trying to mean anything by that, I just wanna let you know that I can get really focused on what I'm doing, and I might come off rude sometimes but I don't usually mean the stuff I say.” Slatepaw laughed a little bit and glanced up at their mentors wondering if they were listening to the conversation or not. “Anyways, good luck....” He paused for a second before adding a snarky comment, “'Cause you'll need it.”
It wasn't too long after that they arrived at Dune Hollow, Windchill stood on the hill and started explaining how the training was going to work, Slatepaw trotted down to the small hill to hear the rest of the plan.
Slatepaw smiled a bit and sent a sideways glance towards Mudpaw once he heard they'd be fighting each other not once, but twice! Before quickly snapping his attention back to Windchill, whiskers twitching in anticipation for the battle. “Got it.” Slatepaw nodded once Windchill was finished speaking. He didn't hesitate, padding to the middle of the hollow trying to hide his excitement. He flicked his ears back flat against his head and smiled a bit, “So, how're we gonna do this, some sort of stare-down to see who makes the first move?” Slatepaw lowered his body to the ground a bit and flexed his claws in the dirt, knowing he wasn't allowed to use his claws in the long run, but it helped him ready himself for the ongoing battle. “Or shall I be a gentletom and allow the she-cat the first strike.”

The she-cat frowned, already knowing that would be strike one. She knew she really should begin to learn to hold her tongue more around those who were older then her, especially her mentor and sister. She didn't say anything as she quickly followed after the four, not wishing to be the last one, again.
Mudpaw began to got caught up in her thoughts until she realized Slatepaw was in step with her and talking to her. She listened to Slatepaw's little speech of how he might come off rude, but this only caused her to smirk, as it would give her equal rights to be rude straight back towards the tom. The brown she-cat then began to open her mouth to say good luck to him too, but was cut off by his little snarky comment that she'll need it. Her mouth closed, and went into a thin line, before saying, "You'll need it too." She decided to leave out the 'good luck' part.
When they arrived at Dune Hollow, and Windchill began speaking her eyes lit up with a bright excitement. Almost immediately after Windchill finished speaking she chirped out, "Okay!", and quickly headed to the middle to face off Slatepaw.
The she-cat quickly lowered herself down to the ground, ears already pinning back on her head, and a small smirk appearing across her face. Her excitement was coming off of her in waves, and was fully prepared to make the first move, “Or shall I be a gentletom and allow the she-cat the first strike.”, that was until Slatepaw decided to make his little comment. Yet she knew she had a pretty good comeback for his comment.
"Being a gentletom isn't exactly apart of sparring, Slatepaw, and besides, I don't need the first strike." The only reason she would say she didn't need the first strike now was because of the current conditions. She already was pretty slow as it was, and launching to make the first move wouldn't exactly put her in the position she'd prefer to be in.

(ahh I'm so sorry for the late reply! School has really made me loose my muse for things)
Singewhisker seated herself down next to Windchill once they arrived at the Dune hollow. She was also curious to know how Mudpaw would perform, she hadn't exactly done any or much battle training with the young cat yet, so it was hard to tell just how much she might know about battle. Her tail twitched with anticipation. "Sounds like a plan Windchill." She muttered, listening to her ideas for the days work. If Mudpaw lost this battle here, she was definitely going to go hard on her with teachings.
The RaggedClaner examined the two apprentices, especially Slatepaw. Slatepaw was new to her, she knew less about him than she did about Mudpaw, so it was only natural for her to be curious. She wondered how much he knew about battle? It seemed as if they both had a pretty good chance of winning, but she could only pick up that much from observation. The odds could easily be much different, however she let her hope rest on the fact that Mudpaw had a good chance of winning. Singewhisker licked her lips and then gave Windchill a small nudge.
