It was another clear and cold leaf-bare day and clouds dotted the grayish blue sky. It's Aspenclan territory and within, a happy-go-lucky Cloverpaw was patrolling around. Sent on a hunting patrol was more like it, and she sniffed the air, seeking out any prey. Every scent she caught though was faint and left her in a slump. Her spirits slowing dying, she found that she was just wondering now around the clan territory. Not a single piece of prey! How was she going to take pride in feeding her clan? Especially in this cold season! She heaved a mighty sigh, until...what was this? Taking in the air again, her tail went up with a smile.
Just a few fox lengths ahead, she spotted it, right there, a rabbit just shuffling in the snow. A plump one at that and just the look of it made her mouth water. Quickly, she bent down into hunter's crouch and began to slowly stalk towards, barely making any sound to disturb the careless creature. Just a few more steps and...LAUNCH! Off she went after the creature as they gave chase. The rabbit was fast, but she'd be faster as she quickly cut right to cut off the rabbit and grabbed its neck between her teeth, biting down until limp. Feeling a warmth of pride, she smiled with her jaws clamped on the limp creature, the scent of rabbit completely dulling her of the sense that she had strayed too far...passed the border into Raggedclan territory. Snowpaw wandered around Raggedclan's territory in search of something to do. earlier that day he had gone on a patrol with his mentor and few of the other Clan cats to check the borders. They had found nothing suspicious then but not it was almost sun high, "Which means a plethora of things could have already happened. And if I manage to catch one of these things and report to Quailstar then he'll surely reward me." the snowy white apprentice said. He was barely visible in the snow except for his light pink coloured eyes that stood out against his face that was void of any colour. But in the snow it meant a perfect disguise. So perfect that when he noticed some foolish Aspenclanner cross the border they didn't seem to see him.
Quickly the tom crouched, his tail still on the ground as he watched them hunt a Raggedclan piece of prey. Quailstar would love to hear about this, he thought to himself, as he stalked towards the cat. The snow muffled his pawsteps and he did his best not to let him know he was there and by the time he got close enough to see the intruder was an apprentice Snowpaw decided to confront them. So off he went, leaping in the air before landing on his opponent. "What's an Aspenclanner doing on this side of the border. Surely your Clan can smell the border, or are you just ignoring it to steal prey!" he questioned the apprentice, his teeth bared and his fluffy tail swishing angrily behind him.

The forests beneath Mount Talon were quiet. Up on the mountain, in a sheltered cave, the cats of RaggedClan were nestled safely away in their warm dens. The weak Leaf-bare sun shone overhead, having just had passed the midday mark. The afternoon hunting and border patrols were not due to go out for a couple more hours, so most of the Clan cats were in camp... Save a few stragglers.
The white snow crunched beneath her paws in a very satisfying way, and Windchill sighed happily, her breath fogging in the icy air. The light grey she-cat was making her way through RaggedClan's territory, heading home after a lone border patrol. She'd stayed out much longer than the other cats, but her Clan had grown used to her behaviour so no cat worried about where she was; every RaggedClanner knew how much Windchill loved Leaf-bare. Alas, she was due back at camp, as the next set of patrols were not far off, and it was very likely that Hailfeather would send her out again. Windchill didn't mind at all; any excuse to get out into the snow was fine by her.
Padding along, Windchill stuck close to the stream that bordered RaggedClan and AspenClan territory; the stream belonged to RaggedClan, but it wasn't uncommon to find an AspenClan intruder. They seemed to think that every bit of land before the stream belonged to them, and many a skirmish had been fought along the border. Staying alert, Windchill was about to veer off the trail to head back to Mount Talon when a loud yowl echoed through the trees, coming from across the stream.
Without a second thought, Windchill bunched up her muscles and leaped over the creek, quickly bounding through the snow in the direction of the noise. She skidded to a halt when two shapes came into view; Snowpaw, an apprentice of RaggedClan, was bearing his teeth and hissing at an AspenClanner, judging by the scent that wafted towards Windchill. The tabby she-cat was pinned under the white apprentice, but it looked as though she was getting ready to escape. Windchill opened her jaws and inhaled, catching the scent of rabbit blood.
The events fell into place easily after that. This AspenClan cat had wandered over the border, chasing a rabbit, and Snowpaw had seen it happen, and had confronted the other apprentice. Windchill felt her hackles raise. Apprentice or not, no AspenClan cat was permitted on this side of the border. The rabbit had become RaggedClan prey after crossing the scent marker, and no cat but a RaggedClanner could claim it as their own now.
Angry though she was, Windchill did not want to start a fight over a relatively small thing, but she could not help the slight growl in her voice as she spoke, having stalked forward to stand near Snowpaw. "He's right. No AspenClan cats should be in this area. Has your nose fallen off, apprentice?"

Cloverpaw, before even having a chance to get up and head towards back to main camp, was greeted by a massive weight, ramming right into her and landed on her back with a thud. She gasped, the rabbit escaping her jaws and landing with a softer thud not too far off. In a daze, she stared up at the Raggedclan apprentice with wide eyes and in a state of shock, her jaw slightly parted. After he finished his question, she opened her jaw to answer,"I-" but was cut off by another voice, another that was just completely strange to her as the second cat made there way to the apprentice. This one, bigger than that of the apprentice and Cloverpaw was fighting back the urge to not shake in her pelt. But what else was there to exactly do at this moment? She couldn't take on two cats at once!
She gulped down hard, taking a breathe before speaking in a nervous voice. "I-I..." she stuttered out before pausing for a moment. "My nose still stands on my nose, where it ought to be." she said "But...heh, I guess it kinda got the best of me when treading over by mistake." she stated, giving a nervous laugh, when running through her mind was 'Ah shoot! There gonna KILL me if they hear about this..." she stared at the two of them. "...If they don't kill me first!" she thought. Being silent for a moment, she spoke again, trying to have more of a bolder tone.
"Well, if it really means that much to you...hehe." she said, but in her mind she thought 'Maybe..If I'm quick enough..' she thought as she twisted her head around. "Then uh-" without thinking, she brought her hind legs back and shoved them into the apprentice holding her down and quickly got to all fours, turning tail to make an escape, but making a short mis-step when her paws caught each other and went tumbling onto the ground, face down, rear high and gave out a yelp of surprise before coming in contact to the ground. "Ow!" she hissed."I've had graceful landings before, but this is ridiculous!" she mumbled to herself, trying to stand tall again. 'One chance, ONE and you blew it.'

Snowpaw was still growling at the apprentice when another cat showed up, this time a warrior and lucky for him the warrior was from his Clan. Now the apprentice under him would have to surrender and answer for their crimes, or so he thought as he was sent flying off the small apprentice. Of course he didn't literally fly, more like, he was thrown off and crashed head first into a pile of snow. By the time he dug himself out his little pink nose was about to fall off from the cold and his stomach was freezing from where the snow had touched it. Oh now he'd make them pay for sure.
Shaking the bits of snow still stuck to his fur Snowpaw looked around for the runaway intruder only to find them a few fox-lengths away. Apparently they had tripped during their escape because they were face down on the floor and Snowpaw didn't know whether he felt sorry for them or glad someone was worse at being an apprentice than he was. "Next time you attempt a get away I suggest you get yourself in order, 'less you want to end up like that again. And now that we have you, you might as well surrender and own up to your mistakes. It would a lot less troublesome for all of us and I assure you us RaggedClanners aren't afraid a small tussle in the snow to prove our point." he began, they had crossed the border so now they had to listen to him rant on and on over things he thought to be relevant.
"Windchill I think we ought to get this intruder to Quailstar, I'm sure he'd like to hear about this. Might as well let AspenClan's leader know about this too, that way we can rest assured this nose-less intruder gets what she deserves. If it were up to me to decide I'd have her clean out every den for 3 moons, what do you think Windchill?" now he turned his attention to Windchill and began to rant to her about what they should do now. Obviously they'd take the apprentice to Quailstar. And from the looks of it the apprentice couldn't even get away if they wanted to.

Clearly she hadn't lost her touch, being a larger than average cat. 'Still as imposing and intimidating as ever,' Windchill thought, satisfied.
"My nose still stands on my nose, where it ought to be. But...heh, I guess it kinda got the best of me when treading over by mistake."
Windchill bared her teeth, ears flat against her skull. "Do you think this is funny? Apprentice or not, you have no excuse for crossing our border." She was at Snowpaw's side now, towering over both apprentices, the fur along her back and tail bristling.
"Well, if it really means that much to you...hehe... "Then uh-""
Windchill didn't move a mouse-length as the AspenClan apprentice shoved Snowpaw away, scrabbling through the snow in an attempt to escape. This was most likely her first Leaf-bare, and she clearly wasn't used to running in the snow. The apprentice tripped over her own paws and fell head-first into the snow, tumbling over herself comically. Windchill didn't laugh. She watched, alert and ready if the apprentice tried to run, as the tabby struggled to her paws. Snowpaw, who'd fallen backward, had already gotten back onto his paws and was now angrily rambling away, his tail lashing. Windchill listened patiently as he spoke, eyes still trained on the AspenClan cat.
"...If it were up to me to decide I'd have her clean out every den for 3 moons, what do you think Windchill?"
|
Windchill snorted. "I'd make it 6 moons." Frowning, and thinking over what Snowpaw had said carefully, she came to a decision. "Though I agree Quailstar should hear about this, I don't think a little border skirmish is cause enough to take her back to camp." Windchill meowed, "But I don't think this intruder should be allowed to walk away." Stepping forward a few lengths, Windchill placed a paw on the she-cat's tail, unsheathing her claws threateningly. "Don't even think about running," she growled, eyes glinting. "Snowpaw and I will escort you back over the border, and wait for a patrol. We'll let your superiors know what happened.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"]

ooc/ If there's an AspenClan warrior/apprentice pair or just 2 warriors who'd like to join in as the patrol, please let us know in the chatbox!

With the weather being about as rough as it had been for the past week or so, all cats were about as thrilled to be outside as a bug was to be caught in a spider's web. Hence why the firey pelted she-cat was out on her own.
"The entire clan is hungry, how can you just stand there while they complain about the lack of prey?!"
Grumbling to herself, Firestrike continued her hunt. She had already found a couple of pieces of prey, but none of them were good enough to warrent a triumpent return to the clan camp. So off she went, continuing on her trip.
As she walked, she became increasingly aware of scents in the air. She must be near the border of RaggedClan and AspenClan. Making note of this, she turned to head in the other direction, to avoid any tresspassing mishaps. But before she could go too far, the whistling wind brought a whisper to her ears.
Don't even think about running.
As she flattened her ears, instinctivaly she opened her jaws, letting the scents rush over her tongue once more, and this time she was much more aware ofthings going on around her. Spinning quickly, she rushed back and spotted the small gathering on RaggedClan territory. She didn't recognize any of the RaggedClan cats, but Cloverpaw she knew. Stopping just short of the border, well on her side, she narrowed her eyes.
Threatening my clanmates, are we? I hope not, for your own sakes.

'Like I would really plan to, you'd probably tear off my tail before I even have the chance!' she thought as she looked up nervously at Windchill and her threatening gaze. In her mind, she was running through all her possible option and conciquences that could come along. She thought that maybe, if she was quick enough, maybe she could turn fast enough to slip her tail from under the rival cat's paw and book it back to her own side. But they'd probably just catch her again and she'd be in deeper trouble then what she was already in. The she-cat turned her head in all directions, running through how she had gotten to this point. How could she have been so foolish to cross the border?
Her upright ear laid back and her folded one going into a droop, she directed her gaze toward the ground. She heaved a heavy sigh, just being able to picture the harsh faces of her clanmates for her own stupidity. "Just my day..." she mumbled to herself quietly under her tone, completely forgetting for a moment the presence of the two cats. Blinking once, she thought over that maybe it'd be better to say something out front now. Taking a moment's hesitation she turned her attention to them and began, "You're right I'-" before continuing what she was saying she twitched an ear back to where she saw Firestrike on her side of the border. At first, a smile of relief came over, but then gave in to more of a down look before speaking out. "Firestrike, what're you doing here?" she asked.

What an eventful day this was turning out to be. And it would have been even more so if Windchill had allowed him the chance to usher in the apprentice that he had caught trespassing and even though she was the warrior and he the apprentice Snowpaw felt it fair that he decide this cat's fate. But even fate seemed against him today. From the nearby border came an angry yowl and from where the cat stood, how they spoke and not to mention their smell. Great. Just what we need. Now they'll just side with the air-headed apprentice and not even listen to us no matter how logical we are. Snowpaw thought grimly. Well, if they managed to clear up the situation to the warrior then they wouldn't have to cross over themselves at least. What do we now Windchill. Especially another one just showed up and I doubt they'd listen to reason either.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,200,true] | [atrb=background,http://imageshack.us/a/img152/662/middlep.png] Windchill gazed down at the quivering apprentice, her eyes like ice. Whether or not this little she-cat had meant it, and despite her obvious fear, Windchill wasn't playing games, and she wasn't going to go easy on this cat just because she was young. The cloudy grey she-cat lifted her claws off of the kit's tail, keeping an eye trained on her as she did so, ready if the AspenClanner tried to run. "Alright, let's get you back over to your own territory," she growled, tail lashing, "C'mon, get up you mouse-hearted fool, or I'll-"
"Threatening my Clanmates, are we? I hope not, for your own sakes."

Windchill stiffened, turning around to face this newcomer, eyes blazing and ears pinned back. An orange tabby she-cat, clearly of AspenClan, was standing just shy of the border looking rather miffed, to put it mildly. She was small, but her stature did not take away from her body language, nor the obvious anger radiating from her frame. Windchill faintly recalled seeing this cat at a Gathering; if she remembered correctly, this she-cat had a harsh personality and a foul temper to boot. We should get along swimmingly, Windchill thought sourly. "What do we now Windchill? Especially another one just showed up and I doubt they'd listen to reason either." "Then maybe they'll listen to this," She muttered to Snowpaw, turning to wink slyly at him. "Watch and learn. This is how you deal with intruders." Windchill then raised her voice to call across the border. "Perhaps if your Clanmates weren't so thick-headed and mouse-brained, we wouldn't need to threaten them." Windchill took a step forward, nudging Cloverpaw roughly, the plump rabbit she'd caught pushed away from the rival cats. "We found this one here catching rabbits on RaggedClan territory." Leaning back and smirking contemptuously, she drawled, "It's a shame Sunstar can't get better warriors on his side. Then you might actually stand a chance of finding your own prey." She butted the apprentice again with her head, shoving her across the border. "What a pity. Such potential wasted on soft hearted forest-dwellers," She sneered. Her anger evident on her face, the warrior lashed her tail as she stared across the border at the cats that surrounded the AspenClan apprentice. Mouse-brained? Well that just wont do!
Least I don't have to bully someone much smaller and younger than myself to feel powerful
A sneer was on her face as she moved to Cloverpaw after she was pushed across the border, and she stood in front of her. Blasted apprentices were always getting themselves into trouble! She was so glad she didn't have one of her own, no doubt that unlucky cat would jsut beg for a new mentor after the first training session. She turned to leave, but the feline's words caught her attention and she froze. In her mind, she knew not to pick a fight, but her claws were digging into the ground. She may be small, but who said that would change her ability to fight?
Spinning, she marched up to the border and glared over, the scents of both AspenClan and RaggedClan markings strong there.
I suggest you keep that rabbit. Looks like you old bag o' bones need all the help you can get. Consider it a handout from us...concerned cats of AspenClan. She offered up her best smirk, very much suceeding and flicked her tail at the cats across the way. She was through with them, naught but trouble, RaggedClan cats. TidalClan was where the good ones were at anyway.
